Whether you are a “list” intercessor, a person who engages in spiritual warfare praying, a revival or personal intercessor—any of at least a dozen prayer specialties—every Christian has a piece of God’s heart to pray and His power to carry to a lost and dying world.

Lesson 6: Exposing Doorways to Darkness

Demonic spirits have no true authority to influence an area without permission. Certain conditions give them authority to set up a base of operations from whence they exercise their oppression. You will review several conditions you may already know, along with some you may not have recognized as doorways to darkness.

Forgiveness is the very spirit of heaven removing the hiding places of demonic activity from the caverns of the human soul. It is every wrong made right and every evil redeemed for good. The power released in forgiveness is actually a mighty weapon in the war to save our cities. Across the globe, God is stirring ordinary believers to pray persistently while walking their cities street by street. Some use rather well-arranged plans. Others flow with Spirit-given prompts. Their prayers run the gamut from lofty appeals to pinpoint petitions, ranging beyond their own homes to their neighbors. It is hard to stop there, so most of them eventually burst into prayers for the entire campus or city or nation. No quick fix is envisioned. But expectancy seems to expand with every mile. In this lesson you will learn to join this vibrant prayer movement.

Lesson 9: No Common Ground Allowed

There has always been enmity between the children of light and those who willfully remain in darkness. It is not whether we wrestle, but how we wrestle. The Bible very clearly states that we are engaged in a war. The issue, then, is how we battle. We need wisdom — to keep us from wrong applications, presumptuous warfare, and casualties; and to keep us from avoiding the battle by assuming the stance that God will fight for us. Both are ditches (extremes) that we have to avoid.

Lesson 10: The Guardian of Intercession

As we strive to hear from God and to know the level and intensity on which He might be calling each of us to engage in spiritual warfare, we can be sure that as we move upward God will draw near to us and as we appropriately move outward Satan will flee from us. The scriptures promise us that. And as the power of the enemy is pushed back and the glory of God shines through, we will see the harvest increasingly reaped and multitudes of unbelievers turning ‘from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God’ (Acts 26:18).

We overcome by testifying what the blood of Jesus has accomplished. His triumph over the powers of darkness is enforced as we agree with and declare the benefits of His precious blood. According to Hebrews 12:24, Jesus has established a new covenant through His blood interceding on our behalf to establish His blood covenant with us. As Leviticus 17:11 says, “For the life of the flesh is in the blood.” In Christ's blood, we receive life that death cannot conquer. (Isaiah 53:12; John 6:53–57)

While on the cross, Jesus said, “It is finished!” We must learn to pray from this perspective. We are not the losers. He has already won the battle and we are called to enforce the victory of Calvary. Declaring or proclaiming what He has already accomplished is the eventual position you must come to in releasing Prayers that Strike the Mark!
